Yay! We are driving again to Vietnam! This time via Hatien and Can Tho....

Yay! We are driving again to Vietnam in December! This time we go through Thailand, Cambodia and to the southern most tip of Vietnam via Hatien and Can Tho...

A 3 weeks trip taking us onwards to Vung Tau, Dalat, HCMC and on to Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Poipet and back through Bangkok.

I have already done this route before and the GPS tracks are with Ryo, but will still redo the tracks anyway in case we do some new roads....

    Fantastic!!! Another great journey!

Have you figure out how to get a permission from the Vietnamese government?

All been arranged through a Vietnamese Travel Agent, this is our 5th convoy trip through Vietnam.... the Royal Perak Motor Club had to apply to the Malaysian Embassy to issue a letter in support of the trip... the rest is up to the agents...

Just wondering how was your trip? No feedback, no links to pics as usual and no tracklogs?
    Sigh....

Pictures are not selected and they are posted straight from the camera.... (I am glad it is only seen by registered members here)

The days are not 100% correct as there were days no pictures were taken... and the GPS coordinates are not 100% on the pictures as the Lumix camera I used was erratic and had to be logged on to the new location each time I switch on the camera failing which the locations will still show the last pic taken! Useless piece of shit the Lumix GPS DMC-FT3! Designed by people who knew nothing about using the GPS..... IMHO...

Thanks for the pics :)Noticed 2 things..... You guys had fun and a good life -> 12 years old Glenfiddich was a part of it.
No 2 -> walkie talkies...Is it allowed to use them?

I have been using those when I was working in Lao (when we went for a test drive) and one day the authorities paid a visit to our workshop; we had the frequency to be re-adjusted.

The 12 year Glenfiddich was for the start, a rather short distance from the Bukit Kayu Hitam duty free shop, finishes up rather quickly and we have then to go for the local beers.. the Lao beer was probably the best of the locals (unless if you can call Heineken "local" in Thailand).

As for walkie talkies, a very essential instrument for our communications for many years. We have always stuck to a "citizens' band" which is allowed for most countries. (Including New Zealand which we took our own Walkie talkies in 2004, where they allow 5w but not 15w power units).

The only countries where we had reservations were Myanmar and China but so far have had no problems......

    Hi

I am now attaching an URL for you to download my entire tracks for the Vietnam/Cambodia trip. Again, as usual I apologize for putting this in the wrong thread.

The file is 5.73MB and in .gdb format.
