If you are now (or future) user of BaseCamp (which replaces Mapsource in the long run) you must follow these steps to ensure your data is protected during a software update:
- connect your handheld unit to a computer and launch BaseCamp. Transfer all your tracklogs, POI's and routes into BaseCamp
- delete the /Garmin/GPX folder from the handheld's mass storage
- update the handheld software via WebUpdater and reboot your unit
