    Using asiangps maps in Vietnam

Thank you all of you at Asiagps. I'm touring by bicycle in Vietnam from Hanoi to Saigon. Now in Mui Ne. Without your maps exiting the big cities would have been a lot of trial and error learning. Vietnam is amazing. Friendly and smiling people everywhere. I'm tracking the tour for upload when back home. Credit to you in "Hanoi" post in my blog: goodbikingvietnam.blogspot.com

    Hi imalel,

Sorry for late reply. I am the Vietnam mapper in this organization. I'm very happy to know you are traveling with our map.
I'm currently busy for the natural desaster matter (and also nuclear matter). I'm not making any progress for a three weeks because of it but I'll be more than happy to receive your track log.

I do not understand Italian but, I saw the string "asiagps" in your blog. :D Thank you very much and have a nice trip!

    Ryo

    Hi Ryo,

I really hope things are getting better for you and all the people involved in the disasters.

I'm sorry but when back home I've found that the track saved in the gps was only the second half of the tour. 1013km of 2121km. Progress bar at 99%. I can only suppose that the first 1108km reached the 100% and have been deleted as the option "delete when full" was selected. Record type was on "auto" and "less frequent". Before starting the tour the gps was empty, without any other track. I assumed this condition would have been sufficient to assure a complete track record. Any advice about how to properly record a complete track of a long bicyle (many hours of recording) tour is welcome. In attachment the gpx file.

    Thanks again.
    Bye
    ale

    Hello imalel,

Trust you had a good time in Vietnam. Thanks for posting the English language link to your travel blog; very interesting.

I am afraid your submitted tracklog is not very useful for us mappers due to your GPS settings.
Have a look at the attached screenshot how your tracklog look like when loaded with the Vietnam map and zoomed in.
[Dear Guest/Member you can't see link before replyclick here to register]

This is due to your GPS settings.
If you are ever to submit tracklogs again, please adjust your GPS to a time based recording interval - 10 seconds for bicycle driving is sufficient.

Also disable the "delete when full" option and select as the storage for your tracklogs the microSD card.
By doing so you won't lose valuable details and the only limit would be the size of your microSD card.

    Thanks

    Hi fjk,

visit my travel blog [Dear Guest/Member you can't see link before replyclick here to register] in particular [Dear Guest/Member you can't see link before replyclick here to register] you'll find all the details you are looking for.
Total km were 2121 in 21 cycling days with 4 rest days. So an average of 100km per day. It was great!

    No trouble :)

Congratulations - a new GPS unit....
If you bought one of the new models, make sure you keep on coming back to this forum to check the GPS devices section for available software updates.
Apparently, the new devices are "field testing development software status" and Garmin updates the firmware for those units quite frequently.

    Thanks

    Good to know lurkin.

It's a new Garmin model indeed. So I'll keep checked for software updates.

    Thank you a lot.

    Hi imalel,

I read your trip blog. It was great. I told you that your track log wasn't really useful for mapping but your blog gave me the motivation of where to be improved. I already improved the map area you mentioned "got lost in La Gi" in your blog. :)

This is the first time I show how I make the map from GPX tracklog.
