Hmmm, that's weird. Mapsource definitely allows to store tracklogs on GPX-format. If impossible for you, just use GDB-format.
Given that you activated tracklog recording and you store them all on microSD card the only limit is the size of your memory card.
Tracklogs have usually less than 1MB size per day with recording interval set to 1 second. When you insert your microSD card (using an SDcard adapter) into a card reader you should be able to see all recorded tracklogs in GPX-format.
I think I am saving them.
Now.
I am struggling now to save on the micro SD card the downloaded maps of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.
I downloaded them extracted them and finally I copied the .img files to the memory card in the 'garmin' directory. But the device does not read them and I cannot see the maps on the screen
1. shall I delete previous maps saved (in my case Myanmar)?
2. which files shall I exactly put in the micro SD (meaning, all those with extension .img? also all the others?)
thanks
giovanni

Hello Giovanni,
Older Garmin models, i.e. your eTrex can handle 2 maps only.
One - installed in the units internal memory, probably a pre-installed world map which came with your unit ex factory.
Two - installed on the microSD card as a compiled Garmin map format IMG-file (in the directory "garmin").
So you definitely need to delete the Myanmar map IMG-file from your microSD card when you want to use another map.
It won't help to copy any extracted Cambodia/Laos/Vietnam IMG-files onto the microSD card. Those extracted IMG-files are not the map itself but only map tiles.
Your eTrex can't read or use those files at all.
What you need to do is to install the C/L/V map on a computer where either Mapsource or BaseCamp is installed.
Both Garmin "mapping" programs will recognize the map.
You need to upload the map via those mapping programs (BaseCamp or Mapsource) to your unit.
Both mapping programs are able to convert the map tiles (multiple IMG-files and other supporting files) into one single Garmin IMG map file which will then be uploaded onto your microSD card.
The uploading procedure (in all details) can be found in the newbie section of this forum, here: [Dear Guest/Member you can't see link before replyclick here to register]
