Track logs of recent 4X4 trip covering Thailand, Laos and Vietnam

    Hi

I am attaching a 1 sec track log of my recent trip from Malaysia to China. The journey took us through Thailand, crossing into Laos at Chiang Khong, then into the China border at Boten/Mohang. After traveling through Yunnan, Guizhou and Guangxi, we entered North Vietnam at Pingxiang/Langson and through Thant Hoa, Vinh and back into Laos through the Cau Treo border and into Thailand at Nakhon Phanom.

The track file is 5.17MB so as usual, it has to be downloaded from the following URL at Mediafire:

The tracks do not include those collected in China as they were 'offsetted' when used in non-China Garmin sets.

    Hi Cflai,

Thanks again for the track log. It is great. I found out the route between Hanoi and China was not so good on R7 map. I will update those roads on the future map. You tracklog is always great. 1 second track log is as smooth as a silk!

    best regards,

    Ryo

    Hi Ryo

    Belated Happy New Year.

The route from Lang son to Cau Treo was quite smooth except for a stretch near Hanoi near N20 57.633 E105 50.961 where our escorts led us from the motorway down to some dirt tracks, a lot of turns and even a U turn to finally join up with the main highway to Thant Hoa (See attached map)

Unfortunately, I had no chance to test out your R7 release but I do note that in R7 you have already cleaned up quite a bit, unfortunately the roads at borders Vietnam/Laos are still not joined so routing across countries are still not sensible.... maybe someday

Anyhow, you have done a great job for Vietnam in R7, can't wait to try it out!

I have just returned from a 10 day trip to HCMC and Can Tho (Hired a vehicle with driver to track Can Tho / Long Xuyen/ Chau Duc, Ha Tien and Rach Gia), will be posting some tracks for you as soon as I clean them up.

    Kind regards

    Hi

Afraid these are either normal highway or main roads we traveled, no off road tracks at all..... These tracks are all accessible by cars.....

    Hi cflai,

Long time no update. I have updated the map according to your track log. It seems to be new Highway 1A by-pass huge construction is still on going. I marked some of the road as "under construction" and as soon as somebody report it as "completed", I can make this road as a "usable road".

    Hi Ryo

Hoping all is going well with you and thanks for your post.

I agree that there are going to be a lot of new roads for Vietnam as there are quite a lot of constructions going on.

I am in Can Tho now and over the past few days, I have not bothered to do any tracking as I noted there there are many constructions from the city to the Can Tho airport and other areas. I will wait for the completion before I attempt to track.

    Kind regards

    cflai

I am leaving for an extended trip to Vietnam, I see numerous posts about updates to R7 but I haven't seen an update to the download file. Will there be any updates to R7 ? and will they be soon ?
