Vietnam - Logs [Hanoi: Cau Vinh Tuy & Cau Thanh Tri]

Well Ryo, you got lucky! A little earlier than expected, but rather sooner than later, right?

Here are your logs of Cau Thanh Tri. On the way there I also took the liberty of taking another new bridge/highway, which isn't on the current map at all; Cau Vinh Tuy. This road is continuing southwest into the city, but I will cover that one another time. I have to do this route again into the other direction anyway, because of the ramps

    Hi FlashNL,

Wao, that was quick! I got it. I'm so sorry that I can't implement it on the map rignt now because somebody sent me OSM map which is about 500MB in size to be implemented on VN map. As soon as I finish the part I am working on, next things to do is yours. I didn't know about the other bridge you saw. That bridge is not ready yet right?

    best regards,

    Ryo

yes, that whole road is finished and fully operational, otherwise I couldn't ride there. They're not working on it anymore and all lanes are open on both bridges. I included some photos so you could see both bridges/roads. And just look at the comments i put in the waypoints.

I try to do it the other way around soon...

    Hi Guys,
I think we'll find bridges being built/rebuilt all over Vietnam for a few more years. I noticed a few exisiting bridges in the Delta being replaced, with new bridges being built alongside them. The traffic conditions have changed a lot, and with the amount of freight (large trucks) and the increase in cars, I think this has forced roading infrastructure upgrades to be done on a fairly large scale. You'll find FlashNL that in Vietnam sometimes roads/bridges don't actually have to be officially "opened" for people to use them.
    Regards,
    Alan

    Hi Alan,

So many bridges. I also found there are so many dams on construction. I'm sure some of my tax has used for the payment of the bridge. :P Please let me know if you find a new bridge (or old bridges which is not on the map).

    regards,
    Ryo

    Hi FlashNL,

I'm done! The interchange between existing roads were a little complex but, google map had those new two bridges and I draw the interchange according to google map. I wonder how they (google) get those update. There must be a goverment published map somewhere. I realized that our map of Hanoi is so messy. I need to clean up the street especially the streets along with the river someday.

Anyway, you don't have to cross those two bridges unless you found something wired on google map.

    thanks,

    Ryo

I know, but these bridges are fully in use, at the Cau Thanh Tri I noticed at the end that they continued with the new road, but it was clearly closed of. Not impossible to get on though, so maybe I try that another time

When is the new map coming out? Do you already have something ready, which is useable for me in MapSource or on GPS (only Hanoi)? Or could mail me some screenshots? Because that road (Cau Vinh Tuy) is full in use into the city, not only where I got on the bridge. And i don't know if you have that data already, so I might be able to do it before the new release and it's useless to do something twice =)

    Hi FlashNL,

Good question. I don't know when the new map will be released. I am ready everyday to be compiled. But the compilation need to be done by other member because I don't have a compilar to build a routable map. I can release Vietnam map anytime when it is ready. I can ask lurkin to build a test map using different compilar for the test. Please let me consider it to check out how it looks like.

Anyway, here is the screenshot of the key points of the bridges. Interchange to the local road is a key of the bridge because you can't make a turn on the bridge. Here is the intersection of "Cau Vinh Tuy" (It also go to south west to intersects with Minh Khai street). The other picture is a intersection of "Cau Thanh Tri" and Route 5. The third picture is a whole view of those two bridges. I hope this is a right map. I also did all possible routing option test between briges and other roads and it seems to be OK.

    best regards,

    Ryo
