Actually 600,000 is very cheap! I've heard the Vietnamese drivers license expires when your Visa expire. For me, I can take only 3 month Visa as a tourist. That means I have to get license everytime I go.
Yes, I agree - USD30 a day is cheap, maybe a very small car.. I did not check although I asked. I hired a driver driven 16 seater Transit van for a day while I was there, it was USD115 inclusive of driver's wages and fuel ... and the driver just tagged along for his free meals.

About the driver's license being valid for as long as the visa is something new to me...have not heard of this one.... interesting. Maybe this is a special tourist driver's license, not a normal one... I wonder if this applies also to people from right hand drive car countries as well... Obviously one has to show his own home country driver's license first
