Well as I promised I've ridden my scooter from Ho Chi Minh to Can Tho. Sorry to say but about 10km out of Can Tho it became extremely wet. So I had to remove the GPX10.
Not to worry there is a new ramp leading out of HCMC , I'm not sure if I've already given this to Ryo, but this log is one second interval. I'll be here for another 2 days so I'll log all the new highway, the bridge and the new supporting roads. Have to say Can Tho has changed a lot since I was here in 1994.
Thanks again for the track log. I am currently working with my own track log of the Hanoi-Hue trip on the trip of last August. As soon as I finished it. I'll work on yours. I already finished fine track log of railway system between Hai Phong-Hanoi and Hanoi-Da Nang. I also need to process JKURO's log. Phew, thank again for the all data. R7 map will be much better than R6 from inter-city road point of view.
During my last trip, I realized that there were so many one way street at Hanoi downtown. I was pointing taxi driver where to turn but I almost ask taxi driver to drive opposite direction at the one way street. I am looking for the paper street map with one way direction for Hanoi. Have you seen one of those at your local bookstore?
Hi Ryo,
I'll visit some bookstores when I return to Ho Chi Minh. From what I've seen so far the street maps in Vietnam are not that detailed, in New Zealand you get a street map and it has all the streets, it's not like that here. I'll have a good look though.
Regards.
Alan
Thanks for the research. Ok, never mind. If there is no map in detail level. I will just make it instead of City of Hanoi.
It's kind of nice to make it when nobody else have. :D
Here's the tracklog from this morning.
I have gone over the bridge in both directions to the point where the new part of Highway One joins to the existing Highway One. It's a beautiful bridge.
I integrated your tracklog on the map. I have one question. I am not sure how should I connect Can Tho downtown to the bridge towards HCM direction. Attached picture is my assumption (or imagination) of the highway ramp to the bridge. Please correct me if I'm wrong. (I marked it as red)
Hi Ryo,
I agree I didn't really do a complete tracklog of the roundabout/intersection where Can Tho joins highway one. Actually there are more roads off that intersection than I logged.
So, I'll stay here a bit longer, it's no problem, tomorrow I'll go back to that area and log everything, may as well have it accurate.
Best regards,
Alan
Thanks for the update. It has been implemented in the map. I tested routing from all direction and added few more roads to complete this interchange. I'll fix it if I made a mistake later.
