Travel between Suvarnabhumi airport and Bangkok downtown gets easier

The airport rail link between Bangkok's international Suvarnabhumi airport and downtown Bangkok will official be opened today, August 23, 2010.

State Railway of Thailand as the rail link operator announce special fares which will remain valid until end of 2010.
As per the current information the costs of a single journey between Suvarnabhumi airport and Phaya Thai station are set to 15 THB. This line is operated by a normal train with 8 stops.

The express train which operates between Suvarnabhumi airport and Makkasan station costs 100 THB.

Trains operate between 6.00 am till 24.00 pm leaving platforms every 15 minutes.

The Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) prepares to adjust bus routes to connect with the Airport Rail Link to ensure utmost convenience for commuters.

In compliance with the Ministry of Transport’s policy, BMTA Director Opart Petchmunee stated that the authority was planning to adjust several public bus routes to facilitate transfers of passengers to and from the Suvarnabhumi Airport Rail Link, of which the commercial service began last month.

The director added that the plan had already been forwarded to the Board of the Department of Land Transport for approval prior to its implementation.
