    New Can Tho bridge

    Hi Bro Ryo

Looking at the Vietnam R6 map and I noticed you have suggested a bridge crossing over from Vin Long to Can Tho in the Mekong Delta - where the current ferries are running. Just to let you know there is no bridge in the position indicated but instead the new Can Tho bridge is further south as I have indicated in the attachment.

I will track the bridge in my next trip if someone else has not uploaded new tracks by then..

Hope I get to upload the attachment and you can find it hahaha!

    Regards

    Hi Cflai,

Thanks for the feedback. According to your feedback. I did the update of new bridge location on the map. The route seems to be a new highway to bypass Can Tho downtown. According to the plan, that road is about 15km long with 6 to 7 bridges including one major one you mentioned. I don't know now how far it has done but, I put the following route on the map. Currently, I marked it as a "under construction road" and disabled the routing on this place. I will update this map once you confirmed the progress of this road.

    thank you,

Oh, sorry, attaching picture doesn't work somehow... It's a new interface..

    Ryo

    Hi Ryo

Thanks for your quick response. I noticed your bridge as I was just browsing the Can Tho section of the map.

The 15.5km Can Tho bridge was recently opened to traffic on the 24 April 2010 - see link here to the news: [Dear Guest/Member you can't see link before replyclick here to register]

    Hi,
The big bridge at Can Tho is open although I haven't been there since.

    Hi Alan

According to my mother-in-law, she walked the bridge the day it opened and to most of the people in Can Tho, it was just awesome! It now cuts short travel time from Vin Long to Can Tho by about an hour compared to crossing by ferry. And now coupled with the highways, it now cuts short a trip to Ho Chi Minh City in car/bus by almost 2 hours!

    Can Tho

    Hi Cflai,
I was going to go to Can Tho with someone who was going there on business but it got cancelled. I'm off to Hanoi, Ha Long Bay, Hue and Hoi An on Sunday, then have to move into our new apartment when we return. After all thats settled down I might ride down to Can Tho just for fun to get the tracklog, unless some other eager person beats me to it.

    Hi Alan

Wow! I envy you. Have a good trip to the north and after that looking forward to see your tracklogs ... will be exciting to see tracks all the way from HCMC to Can Tho with the new highways and bridge...

Just picked up mother-in-law who came to visit for a month, she said that express bus from Can Tho to HCMC only took 3 hours (including a brief stop at the rest stop for meal) instead of the previous 5.

    Hi Alan,

I'm very interested in how this new road insects with other roads. I can see only one big junction on the google map.
If you can, please find highway ramps in addition to track log.

    Thank you,

    Ryo
