Recently I have been using a program called Racechrono to obtain 1 second tracklogs with Garmin XT on a Windows Mobile Phone. The program has Symbian versions as well, best of all IT'S FREE. Users on Malsing Maps have been using it for a while, it's really easy to use. I have attached a sample tracklog I did recently. One big advantage is that you then have the option to save the track directly to your storage card. Anyone interested can download it and if you have any queries I happy to help if I can.

Hello Alan,

Thanks for sharing. That's very interesting - 1 sec tracklogs with Garmin XT!
Do you have any valid download link available? The one I found times out all the time.
Thanks

Here's the site, I've just accessed it. I will explain further, as you know those of us who run Garmin XT cannot obtain 1 sec tracklogs. I run this program to obtain the NMEA data and export the data in a GPX file (there are a number of export options such as KML for Google Earth. I can also use my Garmin XT program for normal navigating (not selecting save track option) and Racechrono at the same time saving the 1 second track as per my upload. The program uses very little resources and doesn't interfere with the Garmin XT program. I love using it as it is so easy to obtain accurate logs.

Hi Alan,

I can't get the program-gps connection to work on my Nokia E65. Just to confirm the settings of RaceChrono:

Settings->GPS receiver->Internal GPS (I have actually a bluetooth GPS but that is already in use by Garmin XT, and it cannot be in use by two programs at the same time, right?)

Settings->Data Logger->RaceLogger Bluetooth (it's either disabled or RaceLogger Bluetooth, which seems to contradict itself regarding the "internal" gps NOT using bluetooth...)

New session->Save NMEA data->On

I start up XT, let it run in the background (not sure if this is "really" multitasking on S60), and start up RaceLogger.

In this config it says: "no fix satellites". But XT is seeing the satellites though....

Any clues?

Hi Tj,
Mine Windows Phone is doing the same, I've e-mailed Racechrono to ask for help/fix.

I managed to get mine to work. You have to use the phone's own navigation program (pair the bluetooth GPS, blue light must be flashing) and then use the internal GPS mode of RaceChrono and XT. And disable this:
Settings->Data Logger->RaceLogger Bluetooth

Be sure not to quit the phone's own nav program (Navigator on Nokia) if you start up RaceChrono or XT, as these phones do not really support multitasking. You have to keep the process running by using quick buttons or other shortcuts.

The GPS will be talking to the phone's app and not directly to XT or RaceChrono. There can be only one active bluetooth link to one app at the same time. XT and RaceChrono will be communicating indirectly to the GPS via the "internal GPS" API feature of the phone. This way multiple apps can connect to the GPS.

If you can't get that to work, update you phone's firmware.

Tj
