Dear FlashNL,

Thank you for the tracklog. I looked at the entire route you sent us. I was so impressed. You took the tracklog in right format and also you went to many place other than boring route 1A. Hai Phuong route is very interesting. Most of people will do the simple trip between Hanoi and Ha Long bay but, you've been a lot more. Our map had a lot of errors incomplete route around that area.
I also noticed the route from Ninh Binh - Thanh Hoa - Tan Ky - Vinh is also very intresting. I have to adjust a lot of place in this area.

It was good decision not to go beyond Phong Nha cave, The road is there but, more than twice longer than what paper map says and almost nobody there for 200+ Km. Also, I see a lot of vipers and some howling of the wild animals. It is kind of scarely route.

I'm very excited to see rest of the tracklog. It is the route I'm going to travel next time.

thank you,

Ryo

Did you use our map when you were traveling? Was it useful?

I had the original blanc world map of Garmin before I got your map (using the R5 now) and it changed my way of travelling here. Went more into land and took a lot more backroads. It made travelling by bicycle a lot easier! Though the lack of the names of the villages, forced me to still use a paper map as well (you can only find them as the names of some roads, which I find not very usefull on the GPS because you have to go over the roads with the cursor (you can't see them at once).

Plans just have changed though. I have to leave Vietnam, because they don't give me a 2nd extension. I'm in Hue atm and leaving to the Lao Bao border the day after tomorrow (have to wait for my passport, which is now in Hanoi). I don't think I'm going back to Vietnam then, but rather travel through Cambodia and Laos, since I'm heading back to Hanoi in September anyway. Then I get a 3-months visa at once and will try to finish the trip to HCM then. Getting really tired of all those visas everytime! I hope your map is of any use in those countries too

The Vietnam parts of the map is the best, most detailed. Laos comes second and Cambodia contains only little details around Phnom Penh and Siem Riep. Would be great if you could collect some tracklogs and POI's from there.

Thanks
